What’s the Oldest Business in Your State?

There are many business still in existence in the United States today that were established before the American Revolution. In fact, there are many businesses that were founded in the 17th century and others that have been run by the same family for generations. Do you know which is your state’s oldest business?

The following graphic takes a look at the oldest still-running business in every U.S. state including what the business does and when it was founded.

The oldest business in America is Shirley Plantation located in Charles City, VA. The plantation dates back to 1614, started operations in 1648, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Oklahoma is the state whose oldest business is the newest. BC Clark Jewelers, which is known for having the longest-running jingle in the country, was established in Oklahoma City in 1892.
